Week 14 Update

This weekend Penny's mom and aunt came into town to visit and help us with the baby registry.  We had been going to Babies R Us every weekend just looking, taking mental notes, and doing online research so we felt going into it we were fairly prepared.  Especially since we also had bought several multiples books that addressed what we would need.  We were sorely mistaken.  It was so overwhelming, all the small things that we hadn't thought of - and it took forever!  And there was so many choices and of course, you want to pick the best but not waste money either, so I'm trying to research every toy and bouncer.  Unfortunately, we were so overwhelmed that I forgot to get a picture :(

Sunday we went to the outlets and browsed the baby stores.  We tried to restrain ourselves from buying too many clothes as we have already bought so many onesies already!  There are so many cute clothes though!

Today, Monday, we had another appointment to check on the babies.  They are all looking great, with strong heartbeats.

We've also been working with the dogs on getting them used to hearing baby noises.  The first time we played the CD it was hilarious and I wished I had videotaped it then, because each time I play it they seem less interested, but this one time I managed to catch a few interesting expressions.  Our dogs want to be held every night - they expect their snuggle time so this will be a hard transition for them.

We are still trying to figure out what we missed on the checklist for registry - who knew babies needed so much!  Until next time!

Week 12 Update

So this week has been a very busy one for us baby wise.  We went out over the weekend and bought maternity clothes (Penny finally gave in).  She also started wearing her maternity uniform on Monday.  It didn't help matters when, the week before, the master chief at her command bluntly said, "Please tell me you are pregnant," insinuating that she was getting out of standards.  She didn't take too kindly to that and told him so.  On Monday, when she showed up in her new uniform, she made a point to ask him if she still looked fat.

We had an appointment that afternoon with the regular OB doctor at Portsmouth and everyone was looking great.  Unfortunately, the pictures didn't turn out too great - you can't tell anything on the printouts.

On Friday, we had our first appointment with Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) - the high risk doctor at Portsmouth and right after that, the ultrasound scans for the fetal nuchal translucency test that looks for genetic disorders using a high resolution machine.  (We mainly wanted to have a chance to look at our babies on the high res machine)!  During this time we got to look at each baby in detail on a big screen, we could see their fingers, ears, chins, and they were squirming and kicking and moving all around.  Here are a few of the pictures we received!

The test showed that the babies were all doing wonderful and we were also able to find out what we are having!
